[Note to Self]

Yikes! Has it been two years since my last post?? Trust me, I’ve wanted to write. I’ve seen some amazing things in recent years and pondered thoughts from a perspective I wouldn’t have imagined in 2024. Two years ago I was preparing to return to school to change the trajectory of my career. I was entering the last decade of my work life with less than 10 years to age 65. I didn’t feel the age on my drivers license, how could it be possible? I will probably never truly retire but you need to plan, right?

What did I return to school for? I studied to acquire my Class A CDL (Commercial Drivers License). Why? I needed something more bullet-proof than the career I thought would take me to retirement. My career started in Commercial Art before Apple computers changed the world of Graphic Design. Doors of opportunity would lead me through some of the best organizations in the midwest. Designing graphics in the food service industry led to positions in 3D print and digital prototyping. Print Production Management brought me into the world of Advertising and Public Relations. I was working in that world, my dream job some might call it, when this blog started. But then, in 2014, God started moving the foundation of my little world in big ways.

This past week I recorded a podcast with the CEO of the company I have worked for since August 2024. This is what brought me back to this page. I was inspired to continue telling my story to inspire others– to offer hope and encouragement. The blog isn’t about putting myself in a spotlight but is all about reflecting the Light of the One who deserves the glory… God alone. He didn’t give me a step-by-step outline of the years to come. He simply asked me to trust Him to take the next step, and the next, and the next.

I opened my laptop this morning and read my last blog post. “Hello, my name is […] was a “note to self” and the very words I needed to reignite writing and journaling. The blog is a creative outlet I need and can also be something others needing direction and meaning may to stumble upon as well. If you were a follower of my blog, the forthcoming posts will explain how I’ve ended up with a window office but don’t have to answer a phone or respond to emails. How is that possible? My office is the cab of a redi-mix truck [aka: cement truck]. Most days I ask myself how I ended up in that seat and know in my heart it is by the grace of God. Buckle up! It’s going to be quite the ride!
